Snow Angel!
I don't like snow. I find it pretty, it's allowed on any surface BUT roads! Usually we don't get much snow in the Netherlands at all, let alone a thick neat pack that stays. This afternoon it snowed even more.. more then I've ever seen, including when I was a kid. Pretty to look at, in comfy pyjamas', drinking my coffee on a quiet lazy Sunday afternoon. I needed to go to mail some letters but the road looked..hideous, so I let it BE. It started out with a suggestion to make a HUGE snowman.. I said; "Why not make a snow angel? I have never ever DONE that!" *points upwards* never was enough snow. Now there was like 30cm of the stuff.. soft enough. Then I got dared. To run outside butt nekid and make one. Now that went a bit too far even for me, but what I did wasn't much better (and I did get flabbergasted looks!) : took off slippers and dove in my pyjamas' into the snow and.. presto! I made my first (and prolly last) snow angel! And here by I DARE YOU ALL to make one too and show it! (Fully clothed is allowed too ) I promise it works very... refreshing! ![]()

...and I LOVE snow. And for a while, it's been snowing around here, fine dry snow, ice cold, and beautiful. And who sends me a text message to my phone, telling me about her mad idea this noon, and daring me to copy it? Who? Yeah, right. *points up* So, while I wasn't in my bedclothes anymore (and a good thing too, considering what I wear to bed ), I did as dared, and took a picture of it as well, to show off here. ![]() So...where's all your pictures? ![]()

Love the Angel...and I've always loved the snow although I mostly agree it's beautiful everywhere BUT...on the roads.
Haven't had too much this year, matter of fact Milford/CT has had more snow than we have...that being said it seems every time I have an appointment or need to do shopping it snows...just enough to make the roads wet and slick and get the car all messy... Woke this morning with a list of stores I needed to go to and a full day of running errands etc....as of last night there wasn't a bit of snow in the forecast...seriously the weatherman told us clear skies from now until Christmas day...okayyyyyyyyyyy...so where'd this snowfall come from? I mean I thought (as everyone here does) it's just a flurry...it will not accumulate...WELL...here I am 8 hours later and it's still snowing. I've shoveled twice...Rick has plowed once and needs to get out there and do it all again. So we are talking right now almost 7 inches and no let up in sight! And how did our weatherman not know this was coming??? He promised it was going to be totally clear until Christmas... Anyway...I decided to stay home and worry about all the errands tomorrow! I'm taking a SNOW DAY!!! And Ellen...I do love that Angel! AND...I'm not complaining...it's going to be a WHITE CHRISTMAS for us...

Seems I couldn't "make" anyone else go daft and make on too though ![]() Which is okay and perfectly understandable. It's just so rare that we get a decent layer of snow, I got carried away! As a fact: if 11-12 inches of snow fall here in one go, All Traffic Gets To A Stop. Even trains. Cars in general don't even have winter tires, unless they'd plan to drive to a ski-resort or something. So Monday after, I (hilarious cuz I really do not "take walks") put on rubber boots and walked (stumbled?) to the nearest by letter box to mail off the last cards.. I did push THREE cars forward whom got themself stuck on the silliest not steap road bumps. Only ONE gave me a grateful wave I learned my lesson... and still got a sore stiff neck, yet no regrets.

Well...if 11-12 inches of snow fall here in one go, traffic stops here mostly as well, and we have plenty of cars driving around without winter tires as well.
Yeah, we get snow more often, but man, german drivers simply work on shirt-term memory. ![]()

Well, up here in North Country the snow is the norm...if we have 12 inches it just means the school buses slow down to 55mph...
We are now in the middle of yet more snow...we are expecting it to snow/flurry/snow from now until Sunday. We are caught between 2 storm systems, neither is supposed to hit us directly but getting brushed by both could bring us a decent foot or more over the next 4 days. Oh to be young and think jumping into the snow and making an angel would be good for my arthritis...I'd be out there in a heartbeat making those angels to send pic to you all...Alas, there are days I can barely walk or lift my arm. I personally think Rick works me too hard on the house projects. He thinks it's just my excuse not to work hard...We laugh...and I take it easy!

You just take it easy, and don't let Rick rush you into even more work. Is not like that house is going to come down around you now if you rest for a little while every now and then. Seriously, listening to you makes me want to hop on train to grab Ellen, then on a plane, and invade your house to help you with your projects!
But you know...I bet Ellen won't notice if you simply make a tiny snow angel with your hands and then ZOOOOOOOM it up with a camera. ![]()

Well, that might be do-able. It's snowing like mad...snow drifts everywhere and almost 18 inches on the ground. It's beautiful...but the Angel would fill back in before I clicked the pic...

That it sadly doesn't, BUT it does make you feel like a 12 year old; that is something, no? Understand you fully, but as Michael said; I won't notice if you simply make a tiny snow angel with your hands and ZOOM in or push Rick backwards in it and make him make one!!! I bet that Angel he'd make, wouldn't fill back in before you clicked the pic! *looks envious at snow-PLOUGH!*

And I still haven't gotten to make my snow angel...come to think of it I haven't seen the camera recently either...and I haven't been posting any pictures to my BLOG since mid November.
We did have our snow reach over 2 feet...then we didn't see the sun for over 10 days with each day giving us 4-5 "new" inches of snow...seriously we could only walk on the shoveled paths...to go off them meant being buried in snow. We just had a period of thawing though, which merely meant we had lots of ice, and rain. Although some snow melted, last night it got cold again and now it's snowing some more.........Welcome to North Country Winter!

Gods...2 FEET of snow?
The world would break down here if we had that kind of snow. :eeek: But I know I'd go out and build a snow house on a weekend! Hope everything is okay with your house and all, with that kind of snow. ![]()

The house has been fine, the dogs are having fun in the snow (even Troy who loves it and tries to act like a puppy, which is wonderful given how bad her arthritis was 6 weeks ago). As long as we keep a path cleared and Rick plows the driveway we do just fine!
Note to self: Don't buy a new car and expect to keep it clean during the winter!!! I think that's the worst part...![]()

You guys are nuts! I hate snow, but watching people older than me running around (more or less dressed to the occasion) seriously made me giggle.. We usually don't get a lot of snow here either, but this winter has been, well, worse than I remember anyways.. We were snow free for a day yesterday but had about a foot drop on us just this evening.. Blah! My friend Tina has some silly idea of dragging me out into this stuff to build a snow man, if we do, I might well have to do a snow angel and take pics for you guys ![]()
