Well, that's close enough to the bullseye, I'll resolve the little story.

The woman was part of a husband/wife team of knife-throwing artists travelling with a circus. As usual, she was the attractive target, and he the active part. When she saw him come out of the optician's shop, she was curious about what he wanted in there. Talking to the optician, she heard that her husband got his eyes checked out, but despite needing them, he declined to order glasses. She decided to divorce, and look for a new job as well.

See, nobody dies in this story.

Ya know, I am a little stumped by that being the only reason for an instant divorce?!

Sure enough, no one died cuz she left on time but..

So the big backpack was in fact the unopened parachute???
